1 - La Paz - Cumbre – Challapampa (2800m/9.186ft)
A car brings us to La Cumbre, a mountain pass at 4643m/15.233ft, from where we start our trek that follow the pre-colombian Inca trail that served as connection between the valleys of the Yungas and the Altiplano. First the trail rises to pass the Apacheta mountain pass at 4860m/15.945ft, and from here we walk down, following the river Lama Khuchu, to the valley Samaña Pampa. We continue until we reach the river Chukura which we will follow for the reminder of the trek. We continue to Challapampa where we set up camp. Hotel. Trek: 5h; Elevation: +217m/-1843m, +712ft/-6.047ft. L/D

2 - Challapampa – Sandillani (2100m/6.890ft)
From Challapampa we continue our trek in the valley and we pass by the village El Choro by following the crystaline waters of the river Jucumarini. By ascending the Cuesta del Diablo and passing the bridge Coscapa we slowly enter the Yungas. Once we have crossed the bridge of Choro we continue to Sandillani where we camp close to the house of the japaneese hermit. Camping. Trek: 6h. Elevation: -700m, -2.297ft. B/L/D

3 - Sandillani - Chairo – Coroico (1715m/5.626ft) - La Paz
Surrounded by a landscape of exuberante vegetation we continue our trek to Chairo (1800m/5.906ft). This little village is really impressive because it is almost “hanging“ on the mountain. We are going to visit its church and its main square and we’ll meet its welcoming inhabitants. A car will be there to pick us up and bring us to Coroico, the biggest village in the Yungas, caracterised by being surrounded by coca and coffee plantations. From here we continue to La Paz by a spectacular road climbing from 1200m/3.937ft to 4700m/15.420ft. This road is faily new and and is known for crossing the Cotapata Park and the old road that is know as the most dangerous road in the world.Distance: 98km/61mi. Transport : 3h30. B

• Once arrived in Coroico you can add a couple of days of rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking or birding.
  
• Trek: On the 3rd day you can integrate the Extreme Trek or the Essential Trek and if you are interested in another trek here
