- La Paz City Tour – Valle de la Luna (3315m/10.876ft)
At 08h00 we meet to go on a private tour of the
city. We’ll visit a few museums as well
as the church and convent San Francisco. After
lunch we descend to the southern part of La Paz
to visit the Valle de la Luna; mistakenly called
a valley the Valle de la Luna is made up of strange
rock formations that give it its lunar landscape.
We return to the centre in the late-afternoon
and the evening is free to explore La Paz by night.

- La Paz – Copacabana – Trek Isla
del Sol - Yumani
At 07:30 we leave for Copacabana in a private
vehicle. The road runs parallel to the Titicaca
Lake and the Cordillera Real until Copacabana
(approx. 3h30). Here a small boat will take us
to the extreme north of the Isla del Sol, to the
Inca ruins of Chincana (3h) from where we start
our trek by following the island's crest to the
village of Yumani in the south (approx. 3-4 hours
hike). Hotel. Trek: 4h; Elevation: +200m/-100m,
+656ft/-328ft. B/L/D
Note: a private
boat is at our disposition during 2 days and will
transport the bags during the hikes.

3 - Yumani - Kalaki
– Sorata (2700m/8.858ft)
After breakfast a boat brings us to Isla de la
Luna where we visit the temple of Ñustas
(the Inca virgins). We then cross the lake to
reach the village Kalaki on the mainland (3/4hrs
depending on the weather). Here a car awaits us
and will bring us to Sorata at the foot of the
majestic massif Illampu (6368m/20.892ft). Hotel.

4 - Sorata - Lacatiya
(3700m/12.139ft)
In the morning, after breakfast, we meet our group
of muledrivers and after having charged the animals
our trek starts. This first day of hiking will
not be easy. We start with a long ascend to the
Estancia Lacatiya which will be our first campsite.

5 - Lacatiya - Paso Illampu – Estancia Utjaña
Pampa (3900m/12.795ft)
We start early by hiking to the Illampu mountain
pass at 4750m/15.584ft from where we can see the
north peak of the Illampu (6368m/20.892ft) and
the Schulze Peak (5950m/19.521ft). We then walk
down the northeast slope of the Illampu until
the Estancia Utjaña Pampa. In this area
you can find plenty small gold mines that are
still exploited. Camping. Trek: 6h. Elevation:
+/-850m, +/-2.789ft. B/L/D

6 - Estancia Utjaña
Pampa - Jiska Cocooyo (3600m/11.811ft)
We start our hike after breakfast, around 8h00,
by passing the Khorvasini mountain pass (4475m/14.682ft).
From here we descend to the village of Cocoyo
close to the Candelaria mines, from where we can
see the Sarani valley to the east. To reach our
camp we have to ascend another 400m/1.312ft. Camping.
Trek: 6h; Elevation: +/-975m, +/-3.199ft. B/L/D

- Jiska
Cocooyo - Paso Sarani - Valle Negruni (4350m/14.272ft)
After breakfast we start by passing the Sarani
mountain pass (4520m/14.829ft) on the slopes of
Wiluyu Janq’uma. From here our descend takes
us through a large valley to reach the village
Chajolpaya from where we continue through the
valley af Negruni, deeply embanked between the
massifs Warawarani (5390m/17.684ft) and Filo Rumca
(5510m/18.077ft), to finally arrive at our campsite
in the middle of the valley. Camping.
Trek: 7h. Elevation: +930m/-430m, +3.051/-1.411ft.

- Valle Negruni - Paso Negruni - Palca (3985m/13.074ft)
After breakfast we start by passing the Negruni
mountain pass (4930m/16.175ft), covered in snow
9 months out of 12. From here a long descend along
the rivers Chiquini and Warako awaits us until
we reach our campsite on the river bank. Camping.
Trek: 6h. Elevation: +530m/-945m, +1.739/-3100ft.

- Palca - Paso Waraco - Vinuara (4540m/14.895ft)
In the morning we leave for the small lake Cotapata
(4685m/15.371ft), before making a small detour
to see the Laguna Leche (the milk lake) and the
majestic Chachacomani (6047m/19.839ft). Before
we walk down the road to Jankho Laya (3380m/11.089ft)
we pass the Warako mountain pass at 4775m/15.666ft.
We walk up the valley until we reach our campsite,
in front of the Ankhohoyo (white wall) at the
foot of the massif Jankho Laya. Camping.
Trek: 7h. Elevation: +950m/-395m, +3.117/-1.296ft.

10- Vinuara - Paso
Moro Khala - Laguna Kotia (4540m/14.895ft)
A new ascend is waiting for us and after breakfast
we climb to the Paso Moro Khala (5000m/16.404ft),
to cut across the Cordillera between Cerro Jankho
Laya and Cerro Mullu Apachita. We continue on
the south-west mountainside and start a descend
in an area filled with small lakes until we reach
the Laguna Kotia.
Camping. Trek: 6h. Elevation: +460m/-540m,
+1509ft/-1.772ft. B/L/D
Note: Today we receive new
food and clothes supplies and it will be possible
to evacuate possible sick/injured hikers.

- Laguna Kotia - Laguna Sistaña (4660m/15.092ft)
After breakfast we start by passing the mountain
pass Contador (4660m/15.289ft) before we enter
a muddy zone between the lagunas Sorakhota and
Ajwani. Later we pass a second mountain pass (Milluni
4920m/16.142ft) before arriving at the Laguna
Sistaña where we install our camp on the
banks. Camping. Trek: 6h. Elevation: +770m/-570m,
+2.526ft/-1.870ft. B/L/D

- Laguna Sistaña - Laguna Jurikhota - Laguna
Chiar Khota (4670m/15.322ft)
Today we’ll also pass two mountain passes,
the first is the Janchallani mountain pass (4910m/16.109ft),
that we cross in order to reach the Laguna Jurikhota.
A steep slope brings us the small Laguna Congelada
at the foot of the Condoriri and we pass the second
mountainpass of the day, the Austria mountain
pass (5160m/16.929ft), before we walk down to
the Condoriri base camp by the Laguna Chiar Khota.

- Laguna Chiar Khota - Laguna Wichu Khota (4680m/15.354ft)
We leave the surroundings of the Condoriri and
walk to the foot of the Aguja Negra crossing the
mountain pass Jallayko (5025m/16.346). In the
Jistaña valley we change mountainside and
we climb to the Thipala mountain pass (5000m/16.404ft).
After having enjoyed the wonderful view of the
lakes we walk down to the Laguna Wichu Khota where
we set up camp in front of the Maria Lloco. Camping.
Trek: 7h. Elevation: +645m/-635m, +2.116ft/-2.083ft.

- Laguna
Wichu Khota - Cerro Santa Fe - Campo Canal (4800m/15.738ft)
We advance in between the lakes until the old
campsite for the Santa Fe mine, at the foot of
the Imilla Apachita (5184m/17.008ft). From the
headland above the abandoned mine we have a wonderful
view of the lakes, and from here we walk down
to our campsite at the feet of the summits Imilla
Apachita, Maria Lloco and Huayna Potosi. Camping.
Trek: 6h. Elevation: +320m/-200m, +1.050ft/-656ft.

- Campo
canal - Huayna Potosi shelter (4700m/15.420ft)
In the morning we go to the glacier lake of Huayna
Potosi. The trail leading there is a dried out
canal on the mountain slope, and it’s one
long viewpoint (2½ hrs return). We then
return to the path that brings us to the Milluni
moutain pass (5000m/16.404ft). We then walk down
to the valley which we follow to the Huayna Potosi
shelter. From here we can see how the river litteraly
falls into the green and tropical Yungas. Shelter.
Trek: 7h. Elevation: +100m/-200m, +328ft/-656ft.

- Huayna Potosi Shelter - La Paz
In the morning we take our time for breakfast,
go for a small hike around the Huayna Pototsi,
before we return to La Paz in the afternoon. The
evening is free to explore La Paz by night. Trek:
